Brown
Ph.D. Student John McMurdy
Wins
$200,000 in NIH and NSF SBIR Awards
I2V
and AI2V training, in addition to BMEidea 2006 award and E-Team grant funding, provides springboard
to success.
After
winning the 2006 BMEidea Competition for his innovative real-time anemia testing device, John McMurdy (pictured
above entering data) went on to attend NCIIA's Invention to Venture and Advanced Invention to
Venture workshops. The first provided a cursory introduction to
entrepreneurship and networking resources, but the Advanced Invention to
Venture workshop put John through the paces of a four-day intensive workshop
followed by coaching and homework. AI2V provided McMurdy the business
skills, training and coaching he needed to move forward confidently to start
and seek financing for his venture.
