Mr. Marcus Boggs, Owner/CEO of CEA TechnologiesMarcus Boggs is the founder and owner of CEA Technologies, Inc. a contract engineering and manufacturing company headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado with operating facilities in the U.S. and the Dominican Republic. He has been involved in the medical device business for over 25 years and founded CEA in 1988, achieving double digit growth annually since that time.
Mr. Boggs began his career with W.L. Gore and Associates as a sales engineer, founded Wesmar, RMB Inc. and Castle Pines Medical in the early 90s and has focused his career on helping companies bring innovative technologies to the marketplace. He created the vCEA brand which is designed to accelerate the market launch of new medical devices.
Mr. Boggs is an active member of Advamed, has built long-term supplier relationships within the Fortune 20 Medical Device companies and is passionate about delivering cost effective medical technologies to the industry. He has participated on both for-profit and not-for-profit boards along with serving in voluntary roles for educational development.

Mr. Duncan Stewart, CEO of Colorado Springs Technology IncubatorDuncan Stewart is CEO of the Colorado Springs Technology Incubator and the Executive Director of the Colorado Homeland Defense Alliance. He has an extensive background in R&D, general management, and marketing in aerospace, defense, security, and biomedical industries. He is an Air Force veteran, having held leadership positions in weapons acquisition and aircraft fleet management. Duncan serves on the boards of several companies and nonprofit organizations to include the Colorado Springs Technology Incubator, Aqueous Biomedical, ConcealFab, FalconWorks, Peak Venture Group, YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, and the International Council on Systems Engineering. He is a graduate of the USAFA, has an MS in Aerospace Management from Embry Riddle, and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. While at the Incubator, Duncan co-founded High Altitude Investors angel club, signed a Memoranda of Understanding with Sybrant (software development company in India) and Riyadh Technology Incubation Center in Saudi Arabia, created intercollegiate National Security Innovation Competition and signed an agreement with the University of Colorado to help with the technology transfer of university research. Dr. Ian Askill, President of Aspire BiotechIan founded Aspire Biotech, Inc, in June 2001 to develop and exploit matrix biomaterials for biotechnology. He has over 25 years experience in Biomaterials R&D, and 20 years experience in Medical Device development with an emphasis on matrix materials for wound healing and drug delivery. Prior to Aspire he was Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer for MedLogic Global Corporation, Associate Director for New Technologies at Bristol-Myers Squibb, and held senior R&D and Tech Transfer/Business Development positions at 3 other medical device companies. Ian received a Ph.D. from the Department of Bioengineering and Medical Physics at the University of Liverpool in 1981 following his B.S. with honors in Chemistry, and has over 20 issued U.S. patents.
Ian sits on the Advisory Board of the El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization, is an Adjoined Professor at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and sits on the Science Advisory Board of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

Ms. Brenda Speer, Attorney of Brenda L. Speer LLCBrenda Speer has been practicing law since 1989 and has honed her area of emphasis, intellectual property law (patent, trademark and copyright), through both private law firm practice and in-house legal department service. In October 2004 she re-entered private law practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as a solo practitioner and provides legal counsel to artists, entertainers, innovators and companies in the creative, technological and business arts. She is an avid champion in educating and enabling her clients to protect and nurture their valuable brainchildren.
Brenda Speer has been a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She moved to the city as a child in 1970 and grew up and finished her primary education here. After living in various places to complete her undergraduate and graduate education, as well as to gain work experience, she returned to Colorado Springs in 1996. She lives here with her husband and her collection of books, fashion accessories and sewing and needlework supplies. Brenda is active in the community and is affiliated with many organizations as a member or board director. One of her favorite activities is playing French horn with the Pikes Peak Philharmonic.

Dr. Michael Larson, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation of University of Colorado at Colorado SpringsMichael Larson is an inventor, entrepreneur and professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). Michael earned his PhD from MIT in 1992, his M.S. from the University of Michigan and his B.S. from Tulane University. He holds the El Pomar Endowed Chair of Engineering and Innovation, is a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and serves UCCS as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation. With funding totaling more than $6M from a variety of agencies, including the NSF, the U.S. Air Force, the Missile Defense Agency, and private corporations, Michael has tackled a number of projects related to the fracture and failure of materials and to optical methods, including bolstering the reliability of microelectronic components. His current research focus is on laser/materials interactions, especially related to medical and homeland security applications.
Michael has a passion for creativity and innovation. Before coming to EPIIC, he co-founded two companies. The first one was based on a medical device he invented the second was when he co-founded Innovention Toys and co-created Khet: the Laser Game which has sales exceeding 140,000 games. In 2005, New Orleans' City Business magazine named him "Entrepreneur of the Year" for founding and directing a studio for creative design. He manages MIND Studios, a prototyping lab for creative design he founded at UCCS. Dr. Larson has conducted numerous workshops on the topics of innovation and creative problem solving. He has garnered six awards for outstanding teaching and conducted a program, with funding from the Lilly Foundation, to increase high school student interest in engineering fields. Dr. Larson has provided engineering consulting and design services for a number of clients, including designing and fabricating a rocket-port measurement device for Lockheed-Martin, and serving as a product design and failure analysis expert in legal cases.

Mr. Mark Heimlich, Partner of Hogan & HartsonMark Heimlich's practice concentrates on corporate financings and mergers and acquisitions. Mark represents clients, including private equity firms, in acquisitions across many different industries, including his representation of publicly-held companies in a series of acquisitions in which the companies issued registered and restricted securities. In addition, Mark headed the legal teams for issuers in several initial and follow-on public offerings. He also has extensive experience representing investors in many large PIPE financings.
Mark's private equity experience includes closing more than 250 venture capital financings with an emphasis on technology, telecommunications, and health sciences-related companies, representing issuers, venture capital investors, and mutual funds. Mark has extensive experience in assisting those clients in formation and capitalization, financings, mergers and acquisitions, technology transfers and related technology issues, executive compensation, equity incentive plans, and other corporate work. Mark also has significant experience forming private equity capital funds. He has negotiated and formed domestic and off-shore funds on behalf of both general and limited partners. Many of these funds focused on technology, telecommunications, and health sciences.
Mark is a frequent author and lecturer on current topics regarding mergers and acquisition, securities law and venture capital. Examples of his recent engagements include:

Mr. John Ryan, Partner of Onset VenturesJohn Ryan joined ONSET Ventures in 2008 and specializes in investment opportunities in the medical technology sector. He has been involved, throughout his career with the founding, building, and financing of companies across many sectors of the healthcare industry at stages ranging from the earliest company formation to the largest industry leaders.
Prior to ONSET, John led the venture investing efforts in the medical device sector for Panorama Capital, JPMorgan Partners, and Chase Capital Partners. During that time, John led investments in and served on the board of directors of companies such as CardioKinetix, FlowCardia, Innovative Spinal Technologies, Novasys Medical, and PowerVision. Prior to that, John worked with Morgan Stanley Venture Partners where he participated in investments in companies such as Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ: ISRG), R2 Technologies (acquired by Hologic), and Rita Medical Systems (acquired by AngioDynamics). Earlier, John worked with Morgan Stanley's investment banking group as part of a team that was a leader in M&A and financing business for health care companies globally.
John holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors from the University of Colorado. John serves on the board of directors of Mills-Peninsula Health Services hospital organization and on the medical device screening committee for the Life Science Angels investment group.

Mr. Brandon Hansen, Manager of Regulatory Affairs of SpectraneticsMr. Brandon Hansen is Manager of Regulatory Affairs for Spectranetics Corporation and has over 12 years of diverse scientific, clinical and regulatory experience in the biotech and medical device industries. His research experience has been in developing vectors for gene therapy. He has experience is all aspects of medical device and combination product development including clinical, regulatory, manufacturing, quality and business integration.
Brandon has led or been a part of more than twenty device and combination product launches including first of a kind permanent implants, medical electrical equipment and novel blood purification products. He has extensive experience negotiating with FDA and other regulatory agencies. Brandon has worked for companies ranging from start-ups to the largest established corporations including companies such as Boston Scientific, W. L. Gore & Associates, and Cerus Corporation. Mr. Hansen holds a B.S. degree in Microbiology from Arizona State University.

Mr. Thomas Oesterle, Director of Engineering of CEA TechnologiesThomas Oesterle is the Director of Engineering for CEA Technologies. He has over 20 years experience in product development and 10 years experience in the design and manufacturing of medical devices. He is a plastics expert who designed hundreds of products before turning his focus to building high performance engineering teams and implementing lean product development processes. Prior to CEA, he worked for Raychem Corporation, Entegris, and Amprobe Instruments.
Thomas is a Black Belt in Design for Six Sigma and owns patents for innovative product designs and the development of plastic materials. He received an Engineering Degree in Germany before moving to the United States in 1989.
