ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
James Barlow has worked in the University entrepreneurship space since 2002 and has
been Commercial Advisor or Commercial Director for 16 start-ups, as well
as consulting internationally on start-up strategy, enterprise education
and training. Prior to working in Higher Education, James was a
Performance Coach, Motivational Speaker and Strategy Consultant for FTSE
listed companies and also worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry in
Sales and Sales Management. He earned his BSc Honours Degree in
Biochemistry from the University of Kent. He is currently the Program
Manager for Outreach at the NCIIA.
Here's what some IdeaLab participants had to say about the experience:
As a recent graduate in product design, I've only had experience conceptualizing and developing products and services alone, without considering the important steps of valuation and long term planning that we covered in this workshop. Workshop participant, Portland State University, August 2011.
James is a fantastic facilitator, design thinker and idea coach, bar
none. During our three-day IdeaLab, he engaged participants to reach
deep and extracted an overwhelming stream of ideas making the workshop
successful and vastly rewarding for all. He kept his finger on the pulse
of the event and successfully made changes "on a dime" ensuring a
contagious energy which kept participants working at high intensity and
productivity levels. He opened minds and transformed zealous individual
business people into collaborators. I would welcome any opportunity to
work with James again. Workshop participant, Rice University, October 2010.
