Jim Boyle, Managing Partner of Inflexion PartnersJim is a venture capital investor with over 15 years of experience, primarily on behalf of Northern Telecom Limited, Bell Canada Enterprises, and Capital Communications CDP, a subsidiary of La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (a large Canadian pension fund). Jim's financial skills were developed in the corporate finance departments of Union Carbide Canada Limited and Nortel.
Prior to joining Inflexion Partners, Jim was the Chief Operating Officer for Telinvest Management Corporation. Telinvest managed an investment allocation from Capital Communications CDP, primarily focusing on telecommunications opportunities in Latin America and Asia. Jim holds an HBSc degree in Chemistry from Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and a M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

At Eastman Kodak, Mr. Calaway was responsible for software development of Kodak's Photo CD, engineering workstation products, and related software licensing. His organization generated $70mm of business in the first year through developing strategic marketing relationships with such companies as Intel and Autologic, increasing the division's cash flow by $18mm. Mr. Calaway also hold 2 U. S. patents relating to the processing of digital image processing using a 2 dimensional bar code process.

Kirstie Chadwick, Director & Coach of UCF Venture LabKirstie Chadwick has nineteen years of experience in the high technology industry, and has worked for a variety of technology organizations, both large and small. Kirstie graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCF with a degree in Computer Science in 1987. After graduating, Kirstie worked as a software engineer at Lockheed Martin for five years. After leaving Lockheed Martin, Kirstie moved into business development and sales while working at two technology startups that have since become market leaders in their fields - Sun Microsystems and Wind River Systems.
For the past fourteen years, Kirstie has worked almost exclusively at small startup technology companies, many of them based out of Silicon Valley. Kirstie's career at entrepreneurial startups cumulated in 1999 when Kirstie co-founded her own software company, DigitalOwl. As the CEO of DigitalOwl, Kirstie successfully raised $13.2 million in venture capital and angel financing, grew the company to 35 employees, and gained high profile clients such as McGraw-Hill, Time Warner, and SwissRE Insurance. As a result of her varied startup experiences, Kirstie has worked for companies that went public, that were purchased, and that failed. These experiences have provided Kirstie with an incredible amount of expertise in the dynamics of how successful startup technology firms grow and gain market share.
In late December 2002 Kirstie retired from her career of managing high technology companies to pursue her Masters degree in Management at UCF, with a focus on building entrepreneurial teams. Kirstie completed her Masters degree in July 2004, and accepted the position of Director of UCF's Venture Lab in late August of 2004.
Kirstie is the recipient of UCF's 2003 Presidential Fellowship Award, the 2001 Women Who Mean Business Award from the Orlando Business Journal, the 2001 Southeast Working Women Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, and the Dr. W. Judson King Memorial Award for entrepreneurs that make a difference in their communities. Kirstie was an active participant of Mayor Glenda Hood's Orlando High Tech Council. She sits on the Board of Directors for Florida's Digital Media Alliance, the Astronaut Memorial Foundation, and the Girl Scout Citrus Council.
Kirstie loves hiking, kayaking, kickboxing, reading and jogging. She has run two marathons on behalf of the Leukemia Society, and is actively involved in the lives of her husband and two children.

Carol Ann Dykes, Site Manager, UCF Technology Incubator of UCF Incubator NetworkCarol Ann Dykes is Site Manager of the University of Central Florida's Technology Incubator (UCFTI) in the Central Florida Research Park. A university-community partnership that builds high-tech opportunities into successful business ventures in Central Florida, the UCFTI currently serves nearly 50 companies in facilities in the Central Florida Research Park, Downtown Orlando and Sanford, FL. The Incubator has graduated 23 companies in its six years of existence. Incubator companies have created an estimated 800 jobs, generate $200M+ in annual revenues and have received over $170M of investment capital. The UCFTI was named Incubator of the Year in 2004 by the National Business Incubation Association.
Previously, Carol Ann was a member of the University of Florida (UF) faculty in the College of Engineering where she served as Associate Director of the Southern Technology Applications Center supporting companies, federal laboratories and universities across the southeastern United States in their technology commercialization activities. She also served as Director of the UF University Center facilitating partnerships between Florida companies/entrepreneurs and the State's universities for joint technology commercialization activities.
Prior to that, Carol Ann served as Vice President for Information Services at Technology Strategic Planning Inc. in Stuart, FL, providing global competitive technology analysis for Fortune 50 clients. Before that she was a Librarian and Information Specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
Carol Ann is a member of the National Business Incubation Association, the Florida Business Incubation Association, and BioFlorida. She served as Board member and President of the University Economic Development Association. She is a member of the Advisory Group for the Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center and serves on the Board of the Florida Hospital East Orlando Foundation, the Athena Foundation's PowerLink Program and the V2R Group (a local investment firm). She currently chairs the Avalon Park/Blanchard Park YMCA Board and was Volunteer of the Year in 2006.
In 2005, she was one of the five finalists for the Orlando Business Journal's Women Business Executive of the Year. In 2007 she was the recipient of the Orlando Women's Executive Council Achievement Award in Education.

Dr. Henry Estevez, Registered Patent Attorney of Allen, Dyer, Doppelt, Milbrath & Gilchrist, PADr. Henry Estévez is a registered patent attorney and shareholder in the Orlando intellectual property law firm Allen, Dyer, Doppelt, Milbrath & Gilchrist, PA. Currently, he is prosecuting patent applications for UCF, FSU and various other universities in representative technologies including genetic engineering, molecular biology, organic chemistry, x-ray optics, nanotechnology, display lasers, chloroplast transformation, antimicrobials, medical devices and others.
Prior to attending law school, Henry was a faculty member at the Duke University School of Medicine, and lab director at Duke Hospital, providing administration of the clinical microbiology lab, diagnostic lab services, and teaching medical students, residents and allied health undergraduates. During that time, he published twelve articles in peer reviewed journals, presented papers at many conferences and spoke at local, state and national conferences.

Additionally, Mr. Faris is the founder and Managing Partner of Astralis Group LLC, a strategic and financial group that partners with technology companies to develop and implelment business and capital strategies.
A serial entrepreneur with over 17 years of VC and Operating experience spanning a number of technology companies, Mr. Faris was previously a partner with Corporate IP Ventures, an early stage venture fund that commercialized defense technologies. Mr. Faris was also a Founding Director and the Chief Operating Officer at Ocean Optics, a precision optical component and fiber-optic instrument company. Prior to Ocean Optics, Scott was the Founder and CEO of Enterprise Corporation, a technology accelerator organization that raised over $50 million in capital to new and existing technology firms through a private investment forum. Mr. Faris has served as Director of the Florida State Capital Fund and the Director of Technology Commercialization at the Center for Microelectronics Research. Mr. Faris started his career with Zero Stage Capital in Pennsylvania where he was involved in analyzing spin-off opportunities from technologies being developed at Penn State and other Pennsylvania research universities. Dr. Cameron Ford, Founding Director of UCF Center for Entrepreneurship & InnovationCameron earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Penn State University and served on the faculty of Rutgers University's Graduate School of Management before joining UCF. Cameron's scholarly interests focus on processes related to new venture emergence, with a particular emphasis on how decision making and communication processes help creative visions evolve into business ventures.
Cameron's research has appeared in journals such as the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He has also published numerous book chapters related to creativity and entrepreneurship, and edited the book Creative Action in Organizations. All told, he has published or presented over 60 academic papers. He is also on the editorial boards of Journal of Creative Behavior and Creativity and Innovation Management.

Joe Giampapa, Director, Office of Tech Transfer of University of Central FloridaJoe joined the UCF Tech Transfer Office a little over two years ago, arriving with 20 years of experience as a Registered Patent Attorney - some in private practice, some as in-house patent counsel -- and specializing for the last decade in university technology transfer. He spent five years as the first Technology Transfer Director (TTD) at New Jersey Institute of Technology, and three more years as IP Counsel/TTD for the Tennessee Board of Regents. Earlier in his career, Joe worked on Wall Street for an investment banking boutique, as well as for an international insurance brokerage firm. During his entrepreneurial phase, he owned several fast food franchises and co-founded a medical device company and a startup healthcare service provider company.
Joe's formal education includes a BS degree in Aeronautics (Dowling College), an MBA in Finance (Pace University), a Master's degree in Systems Engineering (University of Virginia), and three law degrees - JD (Seton Hall Law School), LLM in IP Law (Franklin Pierce Law Center) and LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution (University of Missouri-Columbia).

Gordon H. Hogan of UCF Incubator NetworkGordon H. Hogan is the Business Development Executive for the University of Central Florida Incubator Network. In addition, he is Site Manager of the UCF/City of Orlando Technology Incubator in Downtown Orlando and the UCF Photonics Incubator. Gordon provides mentoring and strategy development consulting for clients of the UCF Incubator Network.
Gordon has a BS in Chemistry from Fort Hays State University plus graduate courses at the University of Kansas.
Gordon was previously President of Central Florida Innovation Corporation (CFIC), a firm dedicated to creating and building technology companies in the region. Additional background includes 30 years experience as an executive, entrepreneur, and business consultant.
His areas of expertise include matching technology to a market, preparing technology startups for first outside investment, resolving complex business issues,and serving as an interim executive for technology startups.

Peter McAlindon, Ph.D., President & CEO of Blue Orb, Inc.Dr. McAlindon founded Blue Orb, Inc. in 1997 with a clear vision of broadening access to information for all computer users by eliminating the barriers caused by traditional computer input technologies. A human factors engineer, Dr. McAlindon has led extensive research focused on ergonomic keyboard usage. He has published several papers and has made numerous professional speeches on user-centered design and ergonomic keyboard design issues.
A native of Michigan, he graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, was nominated to the National Dean's List, and is a member of several professional societies and associations. He holds a Master's Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Aeronautical Science and is a certified pilot. Dr. McAlindon is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Central Florida where he has taught courses in Statistics, Research Methods, Computer Applications, Quantitative Methods, and Product Design and Development.

Lilian Myers, Associate Director & Coach of UCF Venture LabLilian's background includes nearly five years in field marketing and business development at Microsoft where she was chartered with building joint business plans and go-to-market strategies with vertical software vendors. She left Microsoft in 1994 to co-found a healthcare software company in Orlando, FL. She was instrumental in raising more than $30M in venture and strategic capital and growing the company to its exit through acquisition in 1999. Lilian then joined forces with one of her co-founders to form eGlobal Strategies. A consulting firm, eGlobal assisted both start-ups and mature companies in finding a unique market entry position, developing fundable business plans, and targeting strategic partnership, merger and acquisition opportunities. The firm disbanded in 2003 and Lilian subsequently joined Channel Intelligence, Inc as the VP of Marketing and Corporate Development. Lilian came to the University of Central Florida Venture Lab in late 2005 as an advisor and coach, helping faculty, student, and community entrepreneurs refine their business ideas and prepare for the realities of starting a viable company. Angela Shartrand, Evaluation Coordinator of National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators AllianceAngela Shartrand, Assessment Specialist, is an educational psychologist who has experience evaluating programs in philanthropic, community-based, and higher education settings. Melissa Wasserman of UCF Office of Research & CommercializationMelissa Wasserman grew up in California, where she graduated from the University of California at Davis in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science. She moved to Central Florida with her husband in 2001, and received her MBA from the University of Central Florida in 2006. She will receive a Certificate in Technology Commercialization in 2007, also from UCF. In 2007, Melissa won first place in two elevator pitches at The Joust competition finals hosted by UCF. She is currently working for the UCF Office of Research and Commercialization and plans to continue pursuing her lifelong passion of gymnastics by opening her own gymnastics academy in August of 2008.
