Robert Andosca, Founder, President and CEO of MicroGen Systems, LLCemail:randosca@microgen-systems.com - www.microgen-systems.com & www.itcmems.com Mr. Robert Andosca is Founder, President and CEO of MicroGen Systems, LLC located within the Infotonics Technology Center (ITC) near Rochester, NY. Mr. Andosca also holds the position of Program Manager/Senior MEMS Scientist with ITC. He has served in this position and as a consultant for ITC since March 2007. MicroGen is a start-up company founded in February 2007 and is developing an MEMS-based piezoelectric vibrational energy harvester (PVEH) device and power system for wireless sensor network (WSN) applications. This technology is based upon patent-pending PVEH design exclusively licensed from The University of Vermont (UVM).
Mr. Andosca has over 19 years of professional experience in management, and design and development of microsystems and integrated circuit (IC) technology. From 2003 to 2006 he was a Development/Foundry Manager for Lilliputian Systems, where he managed a team developing solid-oxide micro-fuel cell (MFC) technology. The MFC power generator will eventually power laptop computers and cell phones. Mr. Andosca was the Director of Business Development and Engineering for a newly spun-out IntelliSense from Corning, where he formed a strategic alliance for MEMS design services with ITC. Preceding this he was Operations Manager/General Manager of Umicore Semiconductor Processing in Boston, MA. He managed and was responsible for profit and loss of this wholly-owned 25-person company, where he introduced new product lines of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) and germanium-on-insulator (GeOI) substrates.
Mr. Andosca is currently finishing his Ph.D. dissertation from UVM in Materials Science. He holds an M.S. in Materials Science from UVM, and B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Physics from USNH, Keene State College. Prior to joining the firm in June 2005, David spent nearly a decade focusing on early-stage investing at Greylock Partners where he led several of the firm's successful investments in the communications and systems markets. During his time at Greylock, he built a strong investment track record including investments in Akara (acquired by CIENA), Cimaron (acquired by AMCC), e-Dial (acquired by Alcatel), Ikanos (IPO), Sandburst (acquired by Broadcom), SiTera (acquired by Vitesse), Xedia (acquired by Lucent) and Xros (acquired by Nortel).
Prior to Greylock, David held management roles at Chipcom, an enterprise network equipment vendor where he led development efforts in Ethernet bridges, switches and routers. While working full-time on his MBA, David co-founded the Attitude Network (acquired by TheGlobe.com), an Internet content startup with the top two game sites of the day, HappyPuppy.com and GamesDomain.com. Earlier in his career he held technical positions at Bell Labs where he developed secure network systems.
David holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Vermont, cum laude and with college honors, an M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California, and an M.B.A. with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
David serves on advisory board for the University of Vermont's College of Engineering, the board of trustees of the Rashi School, the board of directors of the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston and as a corporator for Lyndon Institute. Clients range from 100+ employee firms with revenues in excess of $20 million to start-up ventures. Areas of counseling include seeking R&D funding, especially through SBIR/STTR programs, general business strategy, business planning and raising capital. Prior to consulting for small firms he was Vice President of Synergy Innovations Inc., a technology development firm which won numerous SBIR awards. He served as marketing manager for a small firm producing innovative compacting presses and also owned a restaurant. His corporate experience includes seven years as Vice President, Administration for Thermal Dynamics Corporation preceded by eight years, largely overseas, in management and strategic planning roles with Caltex Petroleum. Lee E. Bouyea's background includes marketing, product and business development experience working for eBay, Nextel Communications and for the venture-backed startup Ebates.com.
Lee is a native of Burlington, VT where his family owned and operated Bouyea-Fassetts Bakery for three generations. Bouyea-Fassetts successfully sold its assets to the Freihofer Baking Co. in 1989, a wholly owned subsidiary of Philip Morris Inc.
Lee graduated from Colgate University in 1997 and earned an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 2005. While at Tuck, Bouyea managed two small businesses with his peers including the school's retail operation TuckStuff, and the monthly newspaper, The Tuck Times. Lee was also selected to be a Fellow at Tuck's Center for Digital Strategies, where his studies focused on the Digital Media industry.
Bouyea currently serves on the board of Kluster, FKA mophie, a FreshTracks I portfolio company, as well as Draker Labs in the second portfolio. Lee also serves on the board of NEHP, a Fund II portfolio company where FreshTracks holds two seats, alongside Chair of the Board, Tim Davis. Professor Michael P. Having a particular passion for the art of starting and growing new business concepts into successful enterprises, he has taught applied economics and competitive strategies ever since joining the Middlebury College faculty in 1970. For almost four decades, he has been creating programs that extend learning beyond the classroom and into to the real world of live problem solving and entrepreneurial endeavors.
In 1987, Claudon co-founded the Geonomics Institute, which he grew into an internationally respected, independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that helped accelerate economic and political transition, focusing on enterprise restructuring and business development in the Former Soviet Union.
In January 2000, Claudon started a multi-faceted Middlebury College initiative, DigitalBridges2.0(tm) www.digitalbridges20.net which creates and facilitates programs that help people transition and propel thought into action such as the Middlebury Solutions Group, which is an undergraduate venture consultancy dedicated to helping Vermont's entrepreneurs grow ideas into viable enterprises. Since is launch in 2002, MSG has completed over 50 venture-building engagements with Vermont-based start-ups, 38 of which were subsequently funded and are operating today.
In 2008, Claudon launched MiddCORE - Creativity Opportunity Risk and Entrepreneurship, a total-immersion four-week program at Middlebury College that enriches the liberal arts, empowers students to pursue their intellectual and academic passions and prepares them for success in their personal and professional lives. Its almost boot-camp ambience is created by highly successful visiting executive, entrepreneur and innovator mentors who create an intensely interactive and rich learning experience.

In January 2009, Mr. Curtis became Chief Operating Officer of Creative MicroSystems Corporation, a nano-technology development company focusing on the solar, optics, biotech and microelectronics markets. Prior to joining Creative MicroSystems, Mr. Curtis spent ten years in the emerging alternative energy industry. From 2007-2008, Mr. Curtis helped launch a waste to energy technology start-up based in California. Key to its success were several partnerships that Mr. Curtis developed with much larger entities.
From 2000 to 2007, Mr. Curtis was the CFO and then Vice President of Business Development at Northern Power Systems, a leading alternative energy project developer and subsidiary of publicly traded Distributed Energy Systems Corp. Mr. Curtis was responsible for strategic planning, business development, and sales to the commercial, industrial and institutional markets. Key clients included Johnson and Johnson, SC Johnson, US Postal Service, Equity Office Properties and Honeywell. Through 2003, Mr. Curtis was the company's CFO. In that role, he led the company's strategic planning efforts and raised $10 million of venture capital funding. He was also a key participant in the sale of the company to Distributed Energy Systems Corp. in 2003.
Before joining Northern, Mr. Curtis was Executive Vice President of Confluence Holdings Corp. Mr. Curtis played a leading role in the formation and venture funding of Confluence Holdings, and its acquisitions of several manufacturing and marketing companies. He also has 6 years prior experience in corporate finance with Smith Barney, Harris, Upham & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert. Inc. Professor Daniel M. A poet and literary scholar, Fogel has led a renaissance at UVM marked by new programs, including an Honors College; new facilities, including the nation's first student union certified LEED Gold; a 50% increase in doctoral enrollment; and a near-tripling in undergraduate applications, with 21,000 for fall 2008. A proponent of diversity in higher education and a champion of UVM's leadership as a premier environmental university, Fogel was lauded by the Burlington Free Press on New Year's Day 2008 as Vermonter of the Year for his leadership in positioning Vermont as a center of green technologies.

His focus has been licensing out as many technologies as possible from UVM as this is the only chance for the translation of ideas from basic research to applied research and hopefully a commercial product that will benefit society via product benefits and jobs created. Rich served IDX as President and CEO until 1999, CEO until 2003, and most recently, as Chairman of the Board of Directors. IDX was acquired by GE Healthcare in January 2006 for $1.2B.
Rich is a former Chairman of the University of Vermont Health Center and is a former member of the Fletcher Allen Health Care Board of Trustees, Vermont's largest healthcare provider. He was a member of the University of Vermont Health Center Board of Trustees from 1988 to 1994, and is a founding director of Vermont Managed Care. Rich was a member of the University of Vermont Board of Trustees from 1994 to 2000, and served on the Board of Trustees at Saint Michael's College from 1987 to 1993. Rich is an alumnus of the Academy for International Health Studies Inc. and a current member of the Vermont Business Roundtable.
Rich was an All-American basketball player and was drafted by the NBA Boston Celtics in 1965. He received his B.A. in Mathematics from Saint Michael's College and is a charter member of both the Saint Michael's College Athletic Hall of Fame and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
